Magic’s Magic New Hip
Magic, the beautiful 2 year old black Labrador, visited us at the Veterinary Referral Centre to meet our specialist orthopaedic surgeon, Christoph Stork. Her owners reported altered hind limb gait and difficulty when rising from a resting position.
Magic was admitted for radiographs which revealed bilateral hip joint subluxation and osteoarthritic changes secondary to the progression of hip dysplasia. On the basis of these findings a total hip joint replacement was scheduled.
Magic received her new hip and was discharged from hospital within 48 hours. She will be following a strict post-operative exercise plan for the next 6 weeks and enjoying plenty of cuddles from her owners.
