Oreo – Cardiology

Cardiology
Oreo was presented to Cardiologist Dr Babis Koffas, as his owner had noted abnormal breathing episodes at home. He’d previously had radiographs at his first opinion vets which had highlighted a possible mediastinal mass and an abnormal cardiac silhouette.
Dr Babis performed a cardiac ultrasound and Electrocardiogram. Both showed normal cardiac function. The ultrasound did again, highlight the medistinal mass so a CT was advised.
Dr Kaye Gugich performed a CT scan of his head and chest to check for any further abnormalities. She also performed a laryngoscope to check for any abnormalities that could be causing his breathing problems in his upper respiratory tract. This showed nasopharyngeal stenosis, which is a pathologic narrowing of the nasopharynx that causes an obstruction of the upper airway. The CT images are being closely examined and a plan is being made going forward for little Oreo.
Oreo is a sweetheart and spent the whole time purring away ❤️
